THE alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in Albury earlier this week has tonight been revealed as a false report, with police confirming the investigation has concluded and they are no longer seeking three men.

In a brief statement to the media, police said they had been told the 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted after being confronted by three men while walking across the Dean Street footbridge about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
The statement said detectives from Albury Local Area Command had conducted extensive inquiries since the reported incident, including forensic testing, and have spoken to a number of people.
It said the investigation had been finalised, they were no longer seeking three men and no further action is anticipated.
