WINTER is more than three weeks away but yesterday provided a taste of things to come.
And if you missed it don’t worry — the Border’s first burst of wintery weather will hang around for the rest of the week.
It wasn’t so much cold weather yesterday, but the sharp wind bursts that kicked up dust across the region.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Terry Ryan said we could expect more of the same.
Gusts of 20km/h and more are expected today and tomorrow but they will kick up to 30km/h at the weekend and on Monday.
The weather today will be fine but showers starting tomorrow are expected to last until Tuesday.
Mr Ryan said there could be up to 10mm of rain on Sunday.
It will fall as snow above 1200 metres tomorrow and 1500 metres at the weekend.
“It’s not going to be terribly cold but it’s the start of us moving into a winter pattern,” Mr Ryan said.
There was no rain in the gauge at Albury from scattered showers yesterday.
