The tall forward suffered a knee injury during pre-season and returned to kick two goals for the Tigers’ reserves against Wodonga Raiders last weekend.
Coach Darren Ogier said yesterday Sproule had worked hard to recover from the setback.
“Young Zach is a good young talent who has had to recover from a knee injury suffered in the pre-season,” Ogier said.
“He has worked hard and deserves his chance.”
The Bushrangers head into the clash full of confidence after winning their past two games against Calder Cannons and NSW-ACT Rams to climb to third on the ladder.
The Dragons are sitting in ninth spot with two wins.
“Sandringham always provide strong opposition,” Ogier said.
“They beat us in last year’s semi-final with their ability to run and create opportunities up forward.
“Coming off a tough game last week our boys will need to start extremely well and put early pressure on the opposition.”
Mooroopna’s Clayton Oliver and Mansfield’s James Cousins have returned to strengthen the team’s midfield, which includes Wangaratta’s Murray Waite, Benalla’s David Mennen and Albury’s Dylan McDonald.
The match starts at 1pm.
