In a bombshell, club officials informed Almond of their decision on Monday.
Bombers co-president Will Hood cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the shock sacking.
“The termination of Marc’s coaching services was due to some off-field issues that couldn’t be resolved,” Hood said.
“We wish Marc all the best in the future.
“Now we have made our decision, it’s time for us to get on with the rebuilding part of the process and we thought it would be better now than waiting until the end of the season when his contract expired.”
Almond was in his third year as coach after crossing from Hume league club Howlong in 2013.
He led the Bombers to the minor premiership in his first season at the helm before suffering an inglorious straight sets exit from the finals race.
They narrowly missed finals last year when finishing sixth with a 11-7 record.
The Bombers have endured a disastrous start to this season and are yet to win a game after five rounds.
They suffered one of their worst losses in several years on the weekend after being belted by 210 points against Kiewa Sandy Creek and failed to kick a goal in the first half.
Almond said he felt “gutted” after being informed of the club’s decision.
“I am genuinely gutted that the club has let me go,” Almond said.
“The decision is not based on my ability as a coach, my personal relationships with the playing group or even my character.
“But after a change in positions at committee level that has resulted in a difference of opinion in the direction we both see the club going.
“I’m thankful to the committee who appointed me in 2013, who allowed me to do what I love and what I am very passionate about which is trying to bring out the best in people and developing footballers and trying to create a good culture.
“I wish the playing group and the club the best for the rest of the year and beyond.”
The Bombers are yet to appoint an interim coach and have a bye this week due to interleague before facing Yackandandah.
