The city’s ratepayers association says it has concerns with that plan as detailed in the council’s draft budget.
Association president Ian Deegan says it is his group’s understanding the existing La Trobe University campus has insufficient student numbers to remain viable in the city.
He says it would be better for the city to focus on aiming to improve demand for La Trobe at Wodonga, rather than trying to get a second university.
