VFF president Peter Tuohey said farmers had long complained about the high cost and lack of service of mobile and broadband service in regional Victoria and it was time something was done about it.
He said VFF has developed a targeted survey for all rural Victorians to complete on the quality, speed and cost of their internet and mobile connections.
The survey will be tabled at the VFF Annual Conference on June 26 and will present findings to members, stakeholders and both state and federal governments.
“Without a doubt the lack of internet connection, slow connectivity and mobile blackspots are some of the biggest issues facing regional Victorians,” Mr Tuohey said.
“In order for farmers to really maximise their economic potential, we need to be connected at the same speed as the rest of the nation.”
Mr Tuohey said now was the ideal time to generate feedback given the federal government was conducting its Federal Regional Telecommunications Review.
Last week Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the review would consider whether people in rural, regional and remote areas have equitable access to telecommunications services that are of importance to people in those areas and available in urban areas.
