He said yesterday there would be no “short-term” action on the revelation former coach Brendan Fevola was spotted in Dean Street in the early hours of Saturday and the former AFL star and other squad members drinking at a Friday night team dinner.
But Mr Patterson said the entire interleague campaign would be discussed at the league’s next board meeting.
“It is disappointing what has come out, but I can’t pass judgment on what anyone was doing,” he said.
“I wasn’t at the dinner, but I would expect the coach and players to have an appropriate preparation.
“Fevola has got to make the determination if what he was doing was appropriate or not.
“If it wasn’t, yes it is disappointing.”
League general manager Aaron McGlynn expressed his “disappointment” at the incident and said it would be up to the board to act.
Mr Patterson returned from a holiday on the eve of the match the O and M lost to Peninsula by 10 points at Albury Sportsground.
The loss denied the league at a shot at the No. 1 title next year.
The league has struggled to adapt to the rankings format since it was introduced in 2010 and faces a testing encounter against Hampden next year to avoid plummeting further down the order.
After back-to-back matches at home, the O and M faces a nightmare road trip to Warrnambool next year to play Hampden again.
“I am disappointed about the result,” Mr Patterson said.
“We expected to win, particularly playing at home.
“The information I got was that our squad was good, our preparation with training and everything in the lead-up was what we would expect.
“Everything appeared on track for a good result, but we didn’t quite get there.
“We will review this year’s campaign as we’ve reviewed each year before. We simply start again.”
