So next Thursday, with the help of sponsors, donors and recipients, it will celebrate its 10 years of good work.
Trust executive officer Glenys Atkins said the community foundation was designed to give to less-well-known projects which were just as important as bigger ones but didn’t get a lot of exposure.
“We encourage residents, businesses and other organisations to donate and help meet the needs of our community; now and in the future,” she said.
“The bulk of donations are invested to provide an stream of income to support local charitable purposes.”
Border Trust supports the communities of Albury, Alpine, Corowa, Greater Hume, Indigo, Towong, Tumbarumba and Wodonga. It started in 2005 with seed funding from Philanthropy Australia and the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal.
Next week’s celebration will include announcements, including that of a new partner.
