The Australian Federal Police confirmed last night it had referred briefs of evidence regarding four people who may have fraudulently enrolled to vote in the seat in the 2013 election.
The AFP had been investigating allegations against 27 people since last September, when it was alleged young people from Melbourne lied about their addresses in order to vote for independent Cathy McGowan.
The AFP said there was insufficient evidence against the other 23 people.
Indi was one of the most hotly contested seats in the 2013 election, where Ms McGowan defeated former Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella by fewer than 400 votes.
