The ladder leaders, beaten for the first time the previous week, trailed 1-0 at half-time against Magpies after Sam Daly scored.
But in what turned out to be a masterstroke, United coach Robert Hill moved Jones into striker for the second half.
The impact was immediate with Jones’ two goals the game changers, while Nadia Chambers delivered a third for United to run out 3-1 winners.
Best for the winners were Brooke Martin, Grace Ronnfeldt and Jones, while Magpies were best served by the hard-working Daly, Ash Gould and captain Erin McNair.
United maintained its undefeated record with a 6-3 win over Magpies in the men’s division 1.

Magpies’ best were the ever present defender Tristan Eichorn, the always involved Joel Shepherd and dangerous Ben Allen.
Norths upset Wombats 4-3 with the wily Ian Beath leading the comeback with support from the hard-working Matt Graham.
Wodonga held onto second spot after a 1-1 draw with Falcons.
