It was during the third quarter of the recent reserves match between Yarrawonga and Wodonga Raiders, one of the scrawnier Raiders players spilled across the boundary line full speed backwards and off balance and headed straight for the iron fence when a big burly dark haired Pigeon player in the No. 47 guernsey reached out and grabbed him in an effort to prevent imminent and possibly nasty injuries to him at that speed.
It was on the far side of the field and went un-noticed, but to you big fella, whoever you are, good on ya for playing in the true Anzac spirit of our great game and for keeping Ron’s legacy of great sportsmanship alive to this day.
