Bowls NSW president Vince Beard, chief executive officer Greg Helm and secretary Jenny Hirama attended.
The meeting was told there were no imminent changes proposed to Zone 8 (Riverina).
But there is a possibility the Lachlan Valley District, based around Cowra, may seek inclusion in Zone 8.
It is now part of Zone 5, which is being split into a metropolitan zone.
Three districts have a choice of going either north of south.
It seems likely the Lachlan Valley’s preferred option is moving south to Zone 8, but the decision will be made this weekend at a meeting being held in Orange.
Zone 8 president David Cassidy said the inclusion of the Lachlan Valley would probably be viewed favourably.
But there will be a problem with the Bing Wallder Shield and President’s Cup if Zone 8 moves to seven districts.
It was suggested that having a zone administration running the districts would lower fees.
But in my opinion, the Albury district administration is far superior to other districts in Zone 8.
It has a board of directors, monthly meetings and operates far more efficiently than the other five districts.
There would be little benefit being administered at zone level particularly with astute officials in president Jeff Brundell and secretary Norm Honey, who provides continual feedback to the clubs.
No doubt some issues will be discussed at the district’s annual meeting at Culcairn on July 5.
The Zone 8 team to play in the annual Four Rivers tournament at Goulburn on July 25 and 26 has been selected.
North Albury’s Stephen Broad was the only representative chosen from the Albury district.
The team is: Ben Gersbach (Temora), Stephen Broad (North Albury), David Inglis (Wagga RSL), Bruce Lack (Temora) s; Apollo Birch (Wagga RAFC), Brett White (Wagga RSL), Tim Crampton (Tumut RSL), David Ferguson (Wagga RAFC) s; Bryce de Bruyn (Wagga RAFC), Christian Morgan (Wagga RSL), Nick Gannon (Tumut), David Quigley (Wagga RAFC) s; Brett Bevan (Tumut RSL), David Ivanoff (Narrandera), Isaac Raynor (Wagga RAFC), Peter Harry (Wagga RAF) s. The senior team is Peter Durnan (Narrandera), Noel O’Brien (Wagga RAFC), Graeme Rossiter (Tumut), Col Firman (Ganmain).
