Harry Potter, the world's most famous boy wizard, is set to make his debut on the London stage next year in a new play created in collaboration with author J.K. Rowling.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Rowling said Harry Potter and the Cursed Child would reveal an "untold part of Harry's story".
She said the play was a collaboration with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.
"I don't want to say too much more, because I don't want to spoil what I know will be a real treat for fans," she tweeted. "However, I can say that it is not a prequel!"
Rowling went on to explain why she chose the stage for Cursed Child, rather than release a new Harry Potter novel.
"To answer one inevitable (and reasonable!) question ... I am confident that when audiences see the play they will agree that it was the only proper medium for the story," she said.
The author had previously announced plans for a theatrical production in 2013, exploring the untold story of Harry's early years as an outcast and orphan.
Rowling made the announcement on the 18th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in Britain.
Rowling is one of the world's bestselling authors. Her seven Harry Potter novels have sold more than 450 million copies around the world, and spawned an eight-part film franchise that grossed more than $US7 billion ($9 billion) at the worldwide box office.
