Just four points separates the four teams battling for the three remaining final spots after Falcons overpowered Norths in the second half to win their clash 4-2, the previously undefeated Corowa Rutherglen United suffered its second successive loss and a determined Magpies got the better of last week’s giantkillers Wodonga.

Falcons Matt Foreman and Alex Doig dictated play after scores were locked 2-2 at half-time.

Norths captain Jeremy Payne was inspirational in attempting to lift his team with support from Brandon Purtell and Shaun Day, but couldn’t get them over the line.

The Falcons-Norths women’s exploded with five first-half goals in five minutes as Norths went to the break 3-2 up before settling for a 3-3 draw.

Defence dominated the second stanza, with Kate Bardy in an unfamiliar role of fullback and Jaiden Hamilton marshalling the Falcons’ line, while Sherren Rahaley and Leah Wilesmith repelled attacks for Norths.

Ladder leader United had a tight 2-1 win over Wombats. Magpies downed Wodonga 3-2.
