ONE-time league and cup favourites Wangaratta will be underdogs for the clash with Boomers on Sunday.
The Red Devils off-season recruits made them the punter’s pick before a ball was kicked this year and a 5-0 thumping of Boomers, only to lose those points on visa player technicalities, in round 1 confirmed their claims.
But Boomers have hammered home 26 goals in their past five games.
After losing three of their first four they haven’t been beaten since April.
On the other hand the Red Devils looked anything but title favourites against Diamonds on Sunday — golden boot contender Adam Burchell marked out of the game, midfielder and co-coach Ivo Madeira sidelined through injury.
