That is the vision of Albury’s DMB Dance and Performing Arts Centre and the three affirmations that got 12 dancers to a national competition.
The centre’s intensive performance training program troupe travelled to Melbourne on June 20 to battle it out in the regional DanceLife Unite competition.
Teams that scored more than 80 points then qualified to perform on the national stage in Sydney in September.
The troupe performed two dances, hip-hop, which scored 87.7, and contemporary, which scored 85.4.
When competing in Sydney the dancers will be up against those from elite schools like Brent Street and Village Performing Arts.
DMB and intensive performance training program manager Britney Williams said the dance school’s troupe was the first from the Border to enter this competition.
“It’s a big deal to get to nationals and compete at that level,” Ms Williams said.
“It would be huge if we won there would be massive credibility for the dancers and choreography here.”
