THE gap between the top and bottom tier of the women’s game must be a growing concern for AWFA.
Melrose and Albury City handed out double digit thrashings to their rivals at the weekend — Katelyn Seal alone scoring four for Melrose, Chelsea Blissett five for City.
Albury United banged in 14 against Twin City a week ago and another 11 in beating St Pats seven days before that.
When Back of the Net has highlighted trends in the past people have pointed out that thrashings happen in other football leagues.
I also see the merit of the AWFA women’s competition being as strong as the men.
Until that happens the media coverage of the women’s game will continue to be limited.
