The Commercial Club Albury will help kick off the regional tour of a Taste of Tamworth tomorrow, with Golden Guitar winners Carter & Carter hitting the road with award-winning country artists Jetty Road and Roo Arcus.
Kinglake-based Carter & Carter have long been regulars at the country music festival and have been giving regional audiences a glimpse of Tamworth for about 12 years.
“The great thing about Tamworth is that it shows every aspect of country music,” Merelyn Carter said.
“A lot of people think country music is Slim Dusty, ballad styles, or maybe they think it’s more that Keith Urban style.
“But it’s such a broad field of music that there really is something for everyone.
“And what we want to do by taking this show on the road is show the calibre of artists in Australia.”
Carter & Carter have not only a Golden Guitar to their name, but have nine National No.1 hits on Country Music Radio plus another fourteen national top 10 hits.
They were also the CMAA Industry Achiever Award for Independent Entertainer of the Year three years running.
“We’re more the contemporary side of country, closer to Keith Urban than Slim Dusty,” Merelyn said.
“And very story based.
“The thing we love about country is the opportunity to be yourself, you don’t have to have any pretences.
“We get to tell our story, and we get to play with very talented musicians.
“And it’s an all encompassing genre for audiences — it’s great for all age ranges and all walks of life, and it’s a very safe, family-oriented environment.”
A Taste of Tamworth will play 16 shows over five weeks.
“We’ve brought the show to Albury many times over the years,” Merelyn said.
“It’s a great venue there and we always look forward to coming.”
