WITH regards to residents in Bethanga opposing the National Broadband Network tower being built in Bethanga (The Border Mail, July 2), as a resident of Bethanga I welcome the tower. For me it can’t get there fast enough.

I have seen the NBN tower in Bellbridge and it is not offensive at all, and won’t “ruin” any views.
We now live in a time where high speed internet is demanded by families.
Children now learn at home using devices such as tablets, and NBN will provide fast and quick access, more than one device will be able to be used at home.
The residents from the story claim property prices will decrease, I say they’ll increase due to the demand of parents and children alike for the high speeds and downloads offered by NBN.
Also, with regards to the comment about the current internet being fast enough, this is simply untrue. People want access to high- speed internet with large downloading capabilities for gaming, media, entertainment, smart homes; NBN will allow for the building of smart homes in Bethanga.
We suffer with terrible downloading speeds, small monthly allowance, and we can only use one device at a time in the house.
With more businesses and people working remotely at home, NBN will allow the Bethanga community to work from home easily, and will encourage more business to the area.
Already we suffer from terrible mobile phone signal, with NBN we’ll be able to Facetime, Skype etc and keep in contact with friends, family and more importantly emergency services.
NBN will give the community access to the fire ready app, to have 24/7 knowledge of fires and where they are and this is just one of many. I’ve been waiting years for something like this.
