It was a horror show for the Lady Bandits when the two last met, with the Lady Rangers running riot on their way to a 71-point win last year.
But after improved efforts on the road in Tasmania and against Kilsyth in the past fortnight, coach Michael Brookens is after a complete effort against the conference leaders.
“I think the team is really coming along, we’re starting to find out what our strengths and weaknesses are. We’re starting to stick to those strengths and working out how to cover any of the weaknesses,” Brookens said.
“We’ve been building ever since our trip to Tasmania and we’ve shown patches of good play, but we need to put it together for a full game.
“Dandenong are a strong side, but the girls are treating this like any other game.”
The Lady Rangers are just the start of a tough weekend for the Lady Bandits, with the team set to travel to Canberra to play again tomorrow afternoon.
The arduous weekend is further compounded by the absence of Montana Farrah-Seaton on under-19 national team duties.
Covering for the talented guard would need to be a team effort, Brookens said, not singling out any individual player to step into Farrah-Seaton’s shoes.
“There needs to be a collective effort to cover for Montana, we can’t rely on just one or two players to play that type of role for us,” Brookens said.
“I want every player to be able to rely on one another to step up and be a part of the collective.
“Our biggest hurdle is our own actions on the court, and we’re starting to see that come together.”
