The white dual-cab four-wheel-drive hung precariously on a steep bank off Doctors Point Road, with flames erupting from it, about 11am.
It took firefighters from Albury Civic fire station about half an hour to put out.
Captain Chris Brosolo said they believed the driver was heading toward the river when the vehicle got stuck and the horn started sounding, alerting neighbours.
Firefighters could not identify a clear accelerant.
“There was no damage anywhere else but the vehicle was an absolute write-off,” Mr Brosolo said.
“It’s unusual for this to happen on a Sunday morning, normally this kind of thing happens in the middle of the night, so they’re getting very brazen.”
