The win cemented the Bushrangers inside the top three, now sitting second on the ladder, ahead of the Dandenong Stingrays on percentage.
Mooroopna’s Clayton Oliver was best on ground for the Bushrangers, his tough inside work around the stoppages key in the team’s hard-fought one goal victory.
“Clayton was in and under, getting the ball out all day,” Bushrangers coach Darren Ogier said.
“He’s got a good, strong body and showed a cool head late in the game as well.”
After a “heartbreaking” four-point loss to North Ballarat in the dying seconds of their round 10 clash, the Bushrangers have shown remarkably cool heads late in their last two matches now, after holding off a charging Geelong Falcons outfit in round 11.
Ogier said the side had responded well to the loss, and had learned from it quickly.
“I take my hat off to the Knights, they pushed us all day and made us come from behind to pick up the four points,” he said.
“But the structures and practices we put into place after the loss to North Ballarat came to the fore.
“Clayton Oliver, Mitch King and Murray Waite all stood up when we needed them to.”
