Police believe driver fatigue was a factor, prompting a warning for all road users to take it easy, and take breaks when necessary.
Wodonga highway patrol Senior Constable Paul Marshall said officers were called to the crash scene about 7.45pm.
The driver, 55, had been travelling from Sydney to Melbourne when he veered off the road just north of Cemetery Road.
The truck was carrying furniture.
“There was extensive damage on the passenger side, the passenger was lucky not to sustain any injuries,” he said.
Traffic was slowed while the scene was cleared, but there were no road closures.
“We plead with all drivers on long drives to take breaks and think about fatigue,” Senior Constable Marshall said.
