At Southern Cross Austereo, head of metro operations Guy Dobson believes The Hit Network has "bottomed out in Sydney", with struggling young Sydney breakfast duo Dan and Maz picking up from the lows they got in the last ratings survey.

In Sydney, 2GB's Alan Jones extended his lead as the most popular breakfast show, taking 16 per cent of audience share, while ABC's 702 inched higher to 10.4 per cent audience share.

ANR's Kyle and Jackie O's ratings share dip from 10.2 per cent to 8.6 per cent, the GfK radio ratings survey showed.

With the dip Kyle and Jackie O now share the title of the highest-rating FM radio breakfast show with WSFM's Jonesy and Amanda. Both are from ARN.

"The Sydney duopoly continues to perform very well, despite the hit that KIIS took this time. Kyle and Jackie O remain equal number one in breakfast with their sister station and sister breakfast show with Jonesy and Amanda," Mr Campbell said.

"We have a lot of confidence in the strategic direction of the radio station and how we've positioned it in the market. I expect Kyle and Jackie O and KIIS to bounce back in the coming surveys."

Pushed up

Southern Cross Austereo's Dan and Maz breakfast show, which hit a low of 2.4 per cent in the previous survey, pushed up to 3.3 per cent audience share, while the company's Triple M Grill Team show improved to 8.1 per cent.

Mr Dobson said Dan and Maz was a work in progress but it was heading in the right direction.

"The ears tell you the show is good, the listeners tell you the show is good and your research tells you the show is good. All those three things line up and you keep it consistent," he said.

"We've bottomed out in Sydney. It's just a question of how hard can we go?"

In Melbourne, 3AW's Ross and John had a dip in ratings to 16.5 per cent. However, they still held the top spot, while ABC's 774 held on to the No 2 slot, despite a slip to 13.4 per cent of audience share.

Among the FM stations in Melbourne, SCA's Triple M breakfast show with Eddie McGuire, Luke Darcy and Mick Molloy was No 1, with 9.6 per cent, with Mr Dobson describing Melbourne as "Eddieville".

KIIS's Matt and Jane and Gold's Brig and Lehmo had solid improvements, pushing up to 7.1 per cent and 7.7 per cent of audience share respectively.

Top FM spot

In the Sydney drive time slot, from 4pm-7pm on weekdays, Nova claimed the top FM spot with 10.1 per cent audience share, while 2BG was No 1 overall with 10.5 per cent.

KIIS FM's Hughesy and Kate's share slipped to 9.1 per cent, while 2Day FM inched higher to 3.8 per cent. In Melbourne, drive was incredibly tight, with KIIS lifting to 9.4 per cent of audience share, No 1 among FM stations, and 3AW slipping to 10.1 per cent.

FoxFM, Triple M and Nova were all within 1 percentage point of KIIS in Melbourne drive.

Overall in Sydney, 2GB held the largest share of audience aged 10 and older across the entire day, at 12.8 per cent. ABC 702 was second with 8.6 per cent. Among the FM stations, WSFM had 8.2 per cent, Triple M had 7.9 per cent and KIIS had 7.6 per cent.

In Melbourne, 3AW still held No 1 with 12.1 per cent, despite a slip, and ABC 774 remained second with 10.9 per cent. KIIS, Gold, FOX and Triple M all had improvement.

In Brisbane, ARN's 97.3FM was No 1 with 14 per cent audience share, while Nova had 13.2 per cent. In Perth, SCA's Mix had the top slot with 14.3 per cent and Nova was second with 12.5 per cent. In Adelaide, ARN's Mix took the first position with 14 per cent, with Nova runner-up again with 12.5 per cent.
