It is on Sunday, July 26, 10am to 2pm, in Willow Park Wodonga, enter off Pearce Street.
This group is building a bush corridor along House Creek.
It will connect with the plantings already achieved along House Creek in Clyde Cameron Reserve and up to Huon Creek.
Fifteen VCAL students from Wodonga Senior Secondary College volunteer to help with preparation for the planting.
The trees planted will be the iconic River Red Gum, (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) and Yellow Box, (Eucalyptus melliodora).
The Silver Wattle (Acacia dealbata) and Lightwood (Acacia implexa) will intermingle with the great gums.
The understorey will include the very hardy River Bottlebrush (Callistemon sieberi), Common Cassinia (Cassinia aculeata) and Tea Tree (Leptospermum continentale).
Planting endemic species will encourage future regeneration.
National Tree Day is a great opportunity for everyone in the community to come and help plant.
Friends of Willow Park are adding to the planting with a fun filled community event.
It includes four sustainability workshops: Worm farms, worm towers (Karen Retra, 10.15am-11am), Backyard chickens (Lou Bull, 11.05am to 11.50am), Organic pest control (Lou Bull, 12.15pm-1pm), Native bees and bee hotels (Joanne Diver and Karen Retra, 1.05pm-1.50pm).

IN THE GARDEN
Onions are a long time between planting and harvesting, so plant now to have onions during summer.
A few interesting varieties include creamgold, Murray brown, redwing, Bianca and gladalan white.
Traditionally brown onions have a strong odour and flavour.
Red onions are mild and can be eaten raw in salads. White onions are mild and tasty.
