The athletic Evans could well be the first SEABL player to miss games with frostbite after over-icing her sprained ankle this week.
Evans is a 50-50 proposition to play in this weekend’s games against Frankston and Kilsyth, making the task that much tougher.
Combined with the absences of import Ali Bouman, who has returned to the US for friends’ wedding and young gun Montana Farrah-Seaton, who is at the under-19 world championships, and the Lady Bandits could be without three-fifths of their regular starting line-up.
In addition, the team’s third import, forward Rachel Maenpaa, will also be unavailable on Saturday night with junior representative coaching commitments.
Coach Michael Brookens acknowledged the enormity of the task facing his team, especially against a Lady Snakes outfit that has only tasted defeat three times this season.
“It’s going to be a tall task,” Brookens said.
“Other teams have had to deal with absences all season and now it’s our turn.
“The aim is really to prepare the team as much as possible.
“Put them in the position where they can be successful.
“Still no excuses, players should perform regardless.
“We’re going to Frankston to win and we’re coming back here to win too.”
