ALBURY-Wodonga Lady Bandits coach Michael Brookens has boldly declared the Border outfit should win both SEABL road games against Ballarat and Sandringham this weekend.

Propping up the bottom of the East conference with a 2-14 record and coming off a 122-62 defeat to the rampant Kilsyth Lady Cobras, it would seem unlikely the Lady Bandits would be anything but potential cannon fodder for opposition teams.
Not so, according to Brookens.
“We expect to play well and come away with two wins,” Brookens said.
“We’re looking to complete a sweep; we’re not necessarily confident of that but that’s what should happen.
“We haven’t been able to shake off the stigma of being easybeats.
“So teams come out hard against us but we’ve been working extremely hard and I think we’re a good chance.”
The Lady Bandits enjoyed a shock 88-71 win over the Rush in round six but it’s a different Ballarat team that will play host to Albury-Wodonga on Saturday night.
Despite losing 11 of their first 12 games, the Rush improved to win three of their next five contests to somehow remain a mathematical playoff chance.
Meanwhile, the Lady Bandits can only empathise with their Sandringham counterparts, who are anchored to the bottom of the South conference, having tasted victory just once this season.
“Ballarat still has a chance of making playoffs so I think that focus will be more important than worrying about revenge on us,” Brookens said.
“Sandringham is parallel to us, a new team, lacking cohesion.
“Both teams will be a challenge but I think we match-up well and winning two games isn’t too lofty a goal to aspire to.”
