Crazy Patchwork was a style of quilting popular between 1876 and the 1920s and defined a major shift from traditional quilting.
The quilt features hand embroidered Australian motifs from the era including the Sturt Desert Pea, king parrots and a spray of wattle.
Mrs Gibson died in 1911 and left the quilt to her daughters Clara and Edith before being donated to Wangaratta Historical Society.
“Viewing this quilt is a very rare opportunity indeed and one that anyone who loves nature, family and history as well as the craft of quilting will truly enjoy,” society secretary Val Gleeson said.
”We are delighted to work with Wangaratta Art Gallery to share this treasure with the public.
“This is an opportunity not to be missed.”
