The Lady Bandits were off to a flying start through Tenille Collins and the returning Montana Farrah-Seaton.
Collins in particular was on song right from the get-go, with a couple of tenacious steals to help the Bandits to a 10-0 lead seven minutes into the first quarter.
The Lady Blues wouldn’t be kept down though, and recovered to draw level at the end of the first period.
From then on it was largely level pegging, but the Lady Bandits showed some strong offence to lead by six leading into the final period.
But the Lady Blues once again declared they wouldn’t go down without a fight.
Last year’s league MVP Maddie Garrick made the most of two opportunities on the line to help the Lady Blues draw level, and they were on a roll from there.
The Lady Blues capitalised on the lack of tall timber after Ali Bouman was fouled out, and it was all over from there.
Despite the loss, coach Michael Brookens was upbeat about the performance.
“We’ve been getting better, but foul trouble hurt us again, it threw us out of whack late,” he said.
“We were the better team for all but the last five minutes.
“A lot of the things we talked about last week were much-improved, so there’s plenty positives to take out of a game like that.”
