Peter Dobbs and his six-dog team streeted the field in the 5th Annual Sled Dog Classic on Saturday night.
Fellow Victorian Darren Watson won the two and four-dog classes with Alaskan huskies.
The event involves the teams of dogs dashing around the streets of Falls Creek village under street lights.
Nearly 30 teams participated with dog breeds including Alaskan huskies, Siberian huskies, Eurohounds and Alaskan malamutes.
The only entrant hailing from the North East was Tamara Murphy, of Myrtleford, who had a team of Siberian huskies and malamutes.
She has competed in all five editions after becoming interested in the pursuit following an exhibition race in 2010.
The senior were joined by juniors for the first time this year.
The event is aimed at passing on an interest in the challenge to the next generation.
New Zealander Blake Potter won the two-dog class and Victorian Josh Winther claimed the three-dog category.
Falls Creek marketing and communications manager Jo Prothero praised the juniors’ attitude, saying it showed maturity and a commitment to the dogs and the sport.
