In a mouth-watering clash, Melrose trails second-placed Boomers by just two points, with both clubs chasing top-placed Albury City.
Melrose won the corresponding fixture with Boomers 3-0, but will be missing key players Alex Davis and Caitlin Bishop.
“We’re undermanned a little bit but that’s no excuse,” Pye said.
“It’s an issue we’ve had all year with the depth of the squad.
“We’ve basically got 12, 13 players to pick from.
“We’ll give them a good crack and as long as we play with intensity, I’ll be happy.”
Davis has a knee injury that could keep her out for the rest of the season, while Bishop is unavailable.
First-half goals to Katelyn Seal, Izzy Barbaro and Zoe Corbett were enough to give Melrose the three points in round 11 with Boomers.
“We were fantastic in the first half against Boomers,” Pye said.
“Now we’ve got one or two missing and no depth on the bench, it will be tighter.
“But the ground conditions is a leveler as well.”
Melrose is just a win behind City, which has a tough road trip to Myrtleford.
Pye doesn’t expect his side to win the title, but admits it would be nice.
“It will be somebody else’s fault if we scrape into top spot, but second or third would be an achievement,” he said.
