Grassland’s Albury-Wodonga president Peter Murdoch said the pasture update would provide new information on the grazing management of lucerne, as well as the nutritional benefits and animal health issues associated with grazing lucerne and the latest on lucerne varieties.
“Practical advice will also be given on a number of issues including how to estimate lucerne dry matter yields, over-sowing thinning stands of lucerne, sowing lucerne-pasture mixtures and lucerne forage trials,” he said.
Speaker Cameron Allan, MLA Sydney, will give an MLA pastures research update, following by Professor Derrick Moot, Lincoln University, New Zealand, who will talk about how producers can achieve lucerne’s full potential.
The day will feature demonstrations of machines suitable for sowing lucerne.
Ross Palmer, Heritage Seeds, will conclude the day with a research farm tour.
