Coleman ended the Swans’ run of narrow misses by polling 21 votes to finish three clear of Kiewa-Sandy Creek goal-kicking machine Guy Telford and Tallangatta’s Tim Brook.
Yackandandah’s Daniel Cassidy came third on 17.
Coleman raced to an early lead in the count by polling eight votes in the opening three rounds of the season and was never headed.
It was an overdue victory for Chiltern after youngster Ethan Boxall and Coleman finished runner-up to Barnawartha’s Cameron McNeill in 2014 and 2013.
The Swans joined the TDFL from the Ovens and King in 2003.
Coleman arrived at Chiltern from Albury in 2012 after being starved of senior opportunities with the all-conquering Tigers.
He will play a vital role for Mark Doolan’s side when it confronts Rutherglen in the elimination final at Sandy Creek on Sunday.
In the reserves, Mitta United’s Troy Butler polled 19 votes to edge out Tallangatta’s Aaron Monk by a vote.
Blues’ youngster Jesse Anderson took out the third grade count from Hawk Max Tittensor.
Wahgunyah’s Jake Goddard won the fourth grade best and fairest with 42 votes from Yackandandah’s Jay Burr-Hillary.
In the netball, Thurgoona’s Jennifer Vine won the A grade from Wahgunyah’s Brooke Morley.
Not surprisingly, the pair were named in the Team of the Year with Thurgoona’s Christina Pulverenti announced as coach.
Yackandandah’s Joanne Beer took out the B grade and Barnawartha’s Jodie House was successful in C grade.
Chiltern’s Molly Phibbs won the 18 and under and Tiger youngsters Chloe Butters and Mia Duryea took out the 15 and 14 and under awards.
