He failed to break into the Hume Bank machine outside the branch at Myer Centrepoint so he tried again.
And again he failed, only managing to cause damage to the plastic casing surrounding the cash dispenser.
Brook and three accomplices then fled the scene.
Albury Local Court was told on Monday that Brook, 20, of Gardinia Street, Springdale Heights, and his mates were in the car park outside the Hume Bank branch on March 25 at 12.55am.
The group’s second target was the closed Coles Express service station at the corner of David and Guinea streets, getting there at 1.15am.
One of Brook’s accomplices gave him a house brick to break into the building.
Brook threw the brick at the front glass door, which shattered but didn’t break.
He tried again, his second attempt leaving a hole measuring 10 centimetres by 2 centimetres.
Brook pleaded guilty to maliciously destroy or damage property, destroy or damage property and aggravated break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence in company.
He will be sentenced in the District Court in November.
