Janae Abel was given a straight red card from the referee for kicking during the scuffle and will now be suspended for her team’s semi final clash with Melrose this week.
Boomers coach, Steve Hayes, said he did not see the incident that led to the red card.
“There was a bit of a melee and by the time I looked over, it was all over,” he said.
“There were three or four girls on the ground at the same time.”
Alana Parascos kicked the game’s only goal for Boomers at about the 30-minute mark of the first half.
“We had about 70 to 75 per cent of the the play in terms of possession, but they had one or two chances,” Hayes said.
“It was a fairly tight game, but it was always going to be.”
He said the team has blooded new players this season and its depth will be tested when covering for Abel.
Melrose is the only team to have beaten Boomers this season and Hayes believes his opposition will go in as favourites on Sunday.
“They’ve been a bit of a difficult side for us,” he said.
“We’ll just be trying to play our normal game.
“We don’t change our tactics for others teams.”
A win could lead to a cup final against Albury City, which would be a repeat of the past five year’s finals.
