Catherine Falcke, of Tyntynder Holiday Cottages, became involved with the Cancer Council about three years ago and now regularly makes her houses available to affected families.
“I give away about 12 holidays a year, no charge, I pay the cleaning and all that sort of thing," she said.
"I'm not telling you this for my goody two-shoes reasons, I'm sort of telling you because I want other people to do it.
"It's humbling and uplifting for me, it's just incredible and it's just a great thing to do."
Mrs Falcke first offered free accommodation to victims of the 2009 Victorian bushfires before reading about the Cancer Council’s work and deciding to take part.
For some guests with cancer, the stay is the last holiday they take with their family and gives them the chance to relax and enjoy comfortable surroundings.
Mrs Falcke raised this issue in her acceptance speech after winning the people’s choice section of the 2015 Holiday Rental Awards.
