Julie Sanson, her sister-in-law Cheryl Sanson and Sally Ansell have teamed up to take on the pub that shuts its doors in mid-July due to a dispute between the owner and former licensee.

They will manage the pub for owner Tim Bohane in the short-term until Julie Sanson's licensee application is approved.

Julie and Cheryl had initially planned to start up a catering business before deciding to take on the Tallangatta Hotel.

They are also planning to be in for the long haul by agreeing to sign up on a 12-year lease.

"We thought we would just look around and see what was available," Julie Sanson said.

"We just happened to come across this one.

"We've been working very hard the last few days in preparation for the re-opening.

"We see a lot of potential and just want to be part of the community."

She has been a disability worker for the past 12 years in the Bega area, but has previous experience in the hospitality industry.

Cheryl Sanson operated the Royal Hotel in Berrigan for nearly a decade and Ms Ansell will also bring experience in hospitality to the operation.

Julie said the timing of the re-opening was perfect with accommodation bookings already taken for the latest long weekend created by the AFL grand final eve holiday.

The town's Fifties Festival is also looming at the end of next month closely followed by the summer holidays.

Focus on creating a family atmosphere and delivering on a high quality food offering is high on the agenda of the new operators.

The pub's 12 accommodation rooms have also been given a makeover ahead of the re-opening.

The Tallangatta Hotel has the only TAB between Corryong and Wodonga.

But it won't be available in the early stages of the new management as staff undergo training and accreditation.

Tallangatta is a two-town pub with the other "local" being the Victoria Hotel.

"We're in for the long haul," Julie said.
