Operation Combine will run for two days in conjunction with VicRoads.
Officer in charge at Glenrowan Police Ross Woodrow encourages drivers to inspect their vehicles and check registration before taking off for the long weekend.
“The lack of registration stickers is causing a spike in registration offences because people no longer have that visual reminder,” he said.
Drivers can expect to be stopped for breath testing, random drug screening and roadworthy inspections.
VicRoads will deal with heavy vehicles and look at log books, load weight and roadworthy standards.
