It is a time to celebrate life, remember people who have died from the disease and raise money to help others in the future.
There are many stories to tell about survivors of the indiscriminate disease.
Relay for Life had humble beginnings at the Albury Showgrounds in 2002.
It has grown in status and popularity as more and more people become involved and provide support.
The cause close to the hearts of Border residents raised a record-breaking $460,000 at the 24-hour event in 2013 with 3100 participants.
There were 500 fewer participants last year.
But the attitude and enthusiasm of everyone involved was outstanding.
A wonderful vibe existed among every-one at Birallee Park as young and old lapped the oval in unison.
The total figure of $440,000 raised for cancer research is a testament to all those who helped in 2014.
So far 136 teams have registered for 1262 participants with $131,905 raised towards the goal of $400,000.
