Weighell, the brother of Tallangatta all-rounder James, will arrive in Australia from England on Thursday night.
Bulldog assistant-coach Dan Dixon said Weighell played with Jack Craig at Stokesley over the winter.
“He’s going to be very handy at the top of the order,” Dixon said.
“From all reports he’s a really clean hitter.”
Weighell also bowls medium pace.
Tallangatta is expecting James Weighell to return to the club around Christmas.
He played a starring role in this year’s grand final win over East Albury and shapes as the key in the club’s quest for back-to-back flags.
“He has a contract with Durham and they want him to spend a bit of time in the gym before he comes out,” coach Trent Ball said.
