The 2015 Young Achiever of the Year made the step up in the open-wheelers at Winton earlier this year and didn’t miss a beat, finishing on the top three.
The teenager then proved it was no fluke at Phillip Island last weekend, again claiming a podium finish.
With his eyes on a move to higher categories in the future, Boys said he hadn’t expected such strong results so early.
“I’d prepared myself to be towards the back of the field while I got used to the new car,” he said.
“It’s surprising to perform so well early on, it’s gone a lot better than I expected.
“The learning curve has been pretty steep but we’ve done well to keep up.”
Boys said maintaining the car with dad Peter and brother Cameron helped them keep the pace up.
“Doing all the work on the car ourselves is great, we’re all on the same page and we’ve had plenty of speed so far which is good.”
