Former North Melbourne and Collingwood star Sam Kekovich will be in Myrtleford next week for a sportsman and business leaders talk at Club Savoy.
“It's a wonderful gesture from the club to be invited back,” Kekovich said.
“I'm extremely fortunate to have an involvement with the Saints, it'll be a fairly nostalgic time while I'm there I'm sure.”
With his former club struggling in the Ovens and Murray, Kekovich said he would have a simple message to pass on to his beloved Saints.
“We went through some tough times at North Melbourne as well,” he said.
“We were anchored in the bottom four at the time.
“But no matter how long the hard times last, you always come out of them with more than what you went in with.
“You forge strong friendships with the people you're with in those times, and I'm sure Myrtleford will pull through.”
The Kangaroos premiership player said he was hoping to make the most of his limited time in Myrtleford, starting by meeting with some old friends.
“Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch up with Martin Cross and a few others from our reserves premiership in 1966,” he said.
“I'll retrace my steps a little bit, who knows what I'll do.
“I haven't got too much time to play with sadly.”
