Mr Lange celebrated his 80th birthday last Thursday with teachers and students in his favourite haunt at the school, the wood and metal workshop.
Teacher Janelle Dunn said Mr Lange jumped at the chance to volunteer once a week.
“He didn’t hesitate to volunteer when I asked him to join us,” she said.
The kids truly respect him and value his skills and nothing is too hard for him.

“The kids truly respect him and value his skills and nothing is ever too hard for him.”
Ms Dunn said Mr Lange had been an asset to the school.
“He’s reliable, he has a great sense of humour and it really is lovely to have him.”
Ms Dunn said Mr Lange had opened the eyes of the students.
“They see that you’re never too old to participate,” she said.
Tony Zerbst said students looked forward to the time with Mr Lange.
“They get excited about the job and apply themselves really well.”
