A stunning spell of 6-53 from Eagles off-spinner Ryan McNeil made things interesting after Lavington raced to 83 without loss at Kelly Park.
Zac Simmonds chipped in with 3-78 for Belvoir, which will be depleted next week with several players selected to represent the Riverina.
Mackinlay said he would have liked another 30 runs, but believes the total is defendable.
“I think it’s a better score than what it looks,” he said.
“It puts a lot of pressure on them, we are happy to have the runs on board.
“We were probably a bit disappointed we didn’t post 250 but it’s not too far off the mark.
“It’s a good cricket wicket, plenty in it for both.”
Stand-in captain Sam O’Connor opened the batting with Sharp, with the pair putting on 83 before O’Connor became McNeil’s first scalp, gone for 34.
Aaron Jory (21) and Nathan Brown (17) got starts but couldn’t go on with it.
