The win puts the Bushies in third spot while North Albury drop below their city rivals, whom they will face next week, and are now out of the chasing pack.
Resuming at 1-13, Tallangatta lost Nathan Thompson soon after, followed by stalwart Trent Ball at 3-46.
McGillivray, McCormack and Brett Allan gave the middle order a spine before North Albury were sent back in and finished at 2-35.
The Hoppers’ Robert Hartnett finished with four wickets and teammate Daniel Athanitis also took four.
McGillivray's half-century was his second in as many matches and continued his strong start to the season, having scored 41 in round two against Belvoir.
North Albury's Ashley Borella contributed starts but ultimately could not go on in the first innings.
Tallangatta would be hoping to continue their winning trend against New City, and will be confident after a good spread with bat and ball.
