The 199-centimetre tap ruckman was taken by the Demons with pick No.42 in Tuesday night’s national draft in Adelaide after a consistent season with the Murray Bushrangers.
King, 18, was joined at the Demons by Bushies teammate Clayton Oliver, with the midfielder from Mooroopna pick No.4 overall.
Another Bushie, Seymour’s Josh Schache, was taken by the Brisbane Lions with pick No.2.
But the AFL dreams of Albury duo Nick Coughlan and Lachlan Tiziani hang in the balance after they were overlooked by AFL clubs.
Much like Wodonga Raiders young gun Sam Murray, Coughlan and Tiziani will now pin their hopes on the rookie draft.
Jacob Hopper, the brother of Lavington’s Zac Hopper, was taken by Greater Western Sydney with pick No.7.
Hopper joins Collingullie’s Matt Kennedy at the Giants.
