So it is little wonder the voice behind Australian music classics Eagle Rock, Come Back Again and Come Said The Boy loves the festival scene.
“Music, fresh air, wine, food and thousands of lovers of Australian music all having a good time - that’s A Day On The Green, just how I like it,” Wilson says.
From the legendary Daddy Cool in the 1970s to the 1980s chart-topping pop-rockers Mondo Rock, Wilson’s set will be a highlight of a hit-laden concert, featuring fellow Australian music icons John Farnham, Joe Camilleri and Daryl Braithwaite.
Wilson is familiar to music fans in the region, having previously performed at the Bright Harvest Festival as well as A Day On The Green.
Likewise, Joe Camilleri returns to the North East with the Black Sorrows just a month after being one of the star performers at the Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival.
Wilson opens Saturday’s festival at Wahgunyah’s All Saints Estate.
The all-star line-up has already played shows in NSW and Queensland.
“Honestly it’s a great privilege to be playing nationwide on the John Farnham series of A Day On The Green concerts,” Wilson says.
“The shows so far have been mega.”
Wilson, who also penned the John Farnham hit Touch Of Paradise, is regarded one of the most prolific songwriters in Australia, with his lyrics behind a swag of hits from performers such as Jimmy Barnes, DEF-FX, Troy Cassar-Daley, You Am I, Uncle Bill, Renee Geyer, Christine Anu, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole and The Wiggles.
