Melbourne City winger Corey Gameiro has been left "devastated" but has vowed to return "better and stronger" next season after scans confirmed that he had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, his second ACL tear in little over a year.

It was announced via social media on Saturday afternoon that the injury sustained by Gameiro in City's 5-1 win over Perth Glory on Friday night was another ACL tear, and that he would miss the rest of the 2015-16 campaign as a result.
Gameiro, 22, had only recently returned to A-League action after injuring his knee last November, while playing for the Olyroos. He signed with City from Sydney FC in June.
City coach John van 't Schip expressed his sadness in a statement released via the club's website.
"We are of course very disappointed to learn of the extent of Corey's injury, particularly after his hard work and rehabilitation with us, and his work to come back to fitness," van 't Schip said.
"Corey is no doubt devastated with the news and our thoughts are with him at this difficult period."
Gameiro took to social media as he lamented his plight.
"Devastated and torn to bits to announce my ACL has gone again, and my season is over," he posted on Twitter.
"I know I'll be back better and stronger again, I've done it once and I will do it again."
