The Aussie Bush Idol search at the Culcairn Hotel is nearing the grand final, with six musicians fighting for a place.
Among them is young Albury country artist Jesse O'Brien, aged 10.
Host Korey Livey said there had been a high standard.
"Jesse plays country but he doesn't mind a bit of pop rock as well,” Livey said.
“The good thing about country music is there's a circuit where you can grow and tweak your craft.
“It's like an apprenticeship.
“We've had all sorts of genres from metal to blues but the rock and indie style artists have been popular.”
The bush idol aims to give regional artists a chance to make a career out of music.
"There's $5000 in cash and prizes, including a professional studio recording package,” Livey said.
“It's a platform, a stepping stone.
The semi-final will be held on Saturday night followed by the grand final the following Saturday.
