The 2014 Morris medallist spent three seasons travelling from Melbourne to play with good mate Brad Murray at the Alpine Saints, but has opted for a new challenge.
Height drove to Myrtleford at the weekend to inform the club face-to-face that he wouldn’t be committing to a fourth season at the McNamara Reserve.
“I only really made my mind up last week,” the 32-year-old said.
“Now I’ve got to decide where I am going to play next year.
“It’s a very difficult decision.
“I’ve really enjoyed my three years at Myrtleford and it’s a great environment and culture.
“I love playing footy there.”
Height looks set to join Myrtleford key defender Hamish Leahy at Bendigo league club Sandhurst.
The Dragons are coached by Benalla football identity and former Essendon rover Wayne Primmer, who was an assistant coach at Benalla during its premiership year.
Height, who will leave a huge hole in Myrtleford’s midfield, said he agonised over his decision to leave.
”The travel wasn’t a big issue because it was such a good club and environment to go to every week,” the former Hawthorn rookie said.
“I just need a new motivation more than anything and to freshen my things up footy-wise.
“The people and volunteers around the club are so great, which is why it was so hard to leave.”
Height finishes his Myrtleford career on 51 games.
Height won the O and M’s highest individual award in 2014, becoming the first player to win both the Morris and Morrison medals.
The former Echuca ace won the Goulburn Valley league medal in 2010.
